Lightweight Steel Framing? - Avril from Mornington
Question
I am considering using a steel frame for an upstairs extension to my home. Is steel an appropriate option or should I stay with the same timber frame technique used for the existing structure?
Answer
Because hi-tensile steel is lightweight it is an ideal choice for a second storey extension. The lightweight nature of hi-tensile steel, coupled with its modular construction and screwable components makes it easy to install. Steel frames also require less maintenance than a timber frame.
