Australia’s First Green Skyscraper Named ‘Best Tall Building’

Standing as Australia’s first green skyscraper, 1 Bligh Street reached the pinnacle of architectural acclaim when it was awarded the title of Australasia’s ‘Best Tall Building’ by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. The building, which is designed by architectural firms Architctus and Ingehoven Architekten is a testament to modern green innovation.

This large-scale green building has gained considerable acclaim for its central dual-functioning skylight/ventilation atrium, which appealed strongly to the judging committee. Jury panel member Werner Sobek notes this feature as pivotal the overall function and feel of the building.

“The dramatic, naturally ventilated central atrium connects the office workers with nature at the inner depths of the plan, giving a sense of openness for the entire building,” he says
