Outdoor Living Rooms
Think of your indoor-outdoor area as an extra room in your home, an extension of your living area - so that you can enjoy the alfresco air and the stars at night while having a meal and entertaining - it's about creating a dramatic "resort like" effect outside with the warm ambience modern luxuries can offer.
There are some hot tips to remember when creating the perfect indoor-outdoor space for you:
Firstly there are some practical issues to consider when decorating an indoor-outdoor room. Choose UV-resistant furniture, for example, which can also resist any rain that blows in. That favourite old leather couch might look like a good idea, but the first 40 degree day or wild westerly storm could ruin it forever. Make sure any exposed metal such as table legs are stainless steel or powder coated. With furnishings, quick-drying anti-microbial materials resist mould or mildew.
Adding heating to your outdoor space extends its usage throughout the year. The choices now are endless; we recommend installing PVC Blinds around your outdoor living area. They are a great way to let the sun shine in without letting any of the heat out. Combine PVC blinds with an upright gas heater or another heating system and your outdoor living room with be usable all year round. As for the heating system itself the choices are almost endless. Wall-mounted log fires, coal fires, and gas fires are all showing up in increasing numbers and if you wanted to you can even find outdoor air-conditioning units to take the summer blast off a midsummer day, but they are still rare and expensive.
Be sure to think carefully about what you are going to use to decorate your outdoor area, remember it is outdoors so try to stick with an outdoor theme. Use wood, stone, plant or even water fountain decorations to signify that the room is an outdoor room. Small in-room risen garden beds are a fantastic way to keep an outdoor feel; they can also be very practical for growing herbs. It is also a wise idea to keep an anti-insect device or candle located in the room to avoid having spiders and insects creating homes in your beautiful room.
Hopefully these tips have helped you with a few ideas for your new Outdoor living area.
