Mould & Mildew Problems
Mould & Mildew are Fungi, simple microscopic organisms that thrive in a moist environment.
These tiny pest’s cause many people problems in the wet areas of their home. Moulds are an essential part of our environment, without them, leaves would not be able to decay and aspects of soil enrichment could not take place. However, YOUR BATHROOM IS NOT THE PLACE FOR MOULD!

How mould forms
Mildew, which is mould in its early stages, and moulds grow on wood products, ceiling tiles, wallpaper, carpet, drywall, fabrics, plants, foods, insulation and other organic materials. Mould 'colonies' can begin to form on a damp surface in as little time as 24-48 hours, reproducing through tiny spores which travel through the air. Moulds digest organic materials, destroying the material they grow on and then spread to destroy any adjacent organic materials. As well as being a pest in and around your home, mould and mildew can cause severe health problems.
Mould Prevention
There is no practical way for you to totally eliminate all of the mould and mould spores within your home. However there are many ways to help control moisture and mould growing in your home.
Fix leaks in pipes and any damp areas around baths, showers and sinks.
Prevent seepage of water from the exterior of your home, rain water from gutters need to drain water away from the house.
Cover dirt under your house with plastic, this prevents any moisture coming from the ground. Ventilating this area will also help.
Cleaning
Clean fabrics regularly, particularly curtains and drapes which are hung on windows which tend to have condensation on them in the morning, etc.
Your air ducts may need cleaning if you think that mould is living on the inside of ducts.
Check problem areas regularly, i.e - bathroom, laundry and even the kitchen for mould odours and if necessary disinfect the areas with 1 cup of bleach mixed with water.
