Colours from Milan, designs from London ... every year the themes, trends and in-vogue fashions throughout the interior design industry are updated and restructured.
Through extensive overseas trend reviewing, and a continued presence at the European design shows, The Laminex Group keeps ahead of evolving styles, and has become known as a colour and decor style leader, not only in Australia, but throughout the world.
One of the most prominent developments is high gloss surfaces, which will stay particularly strong in kitchens. New technology can now deliver surfaces with extreme depth & richness without excessive reflection.
The design direction of solid kitchen bench tops (such as Laminex Freestyle) and man-made stones (such as essa stone) have remained moderately reserved in colour and visual texture. Various whites and tonal shades are continuously popular and combine well using today's palette of muted naturals and dynamic accents.
Decorative influences and inspirations have been abundant over the past few months, in particular, the floral motif as a graphic is continuing; still relevant in black and white, but now moving toward more grey-tones. A subtle alteration to the floral emblem is obvious, and this has been termed the "new baroque". Another direction is in the stylising of vines and leaf tracery best termed "flower art".
Overall, colour is now more subtle, but tonic, jewel and regal colours are being used as smaller accents alongside wood-grains to enhance and pick up complex colour tonings.
- Bright or "tonic" colours - reds, oranges, sunny yellow and lime green
- Softer "jewel" colours - colours that add life but with subtlety, such as muted tone avocado greens, soft dijon, dusty turquoise, salty blues and cactus blue-greens
- Regal colours - aubergine/plum tones, charcoal ink blues, bronze gold colourations and dark lacquer reds
